Celebrate Diversity 2009 Grantees

 

- Freedom Academy received $800 to provide second language classes for EMT, Fire fighters, Police.

- Rome City School received $1,085.00 for a school wide study of the Brazilian culture.

- Ligonier Elementary received $2,000 for cultural games to be added to their existing R.U.L.E.S. program

- St. Mary’s School received $2,000.00 to purchase supplies and materials for a school wide cultural lesson on the British Isles.

- Churubusco Elementary received $600.00 to subsidize the cost of a school wide lesson on the Egyptian culture.

- Albion Elementary received $439.65 to subsidize the cost of purchasing 40 different versions of the fairytale Cinderella to teach students about different cultures.

- Rome City Elementary received $1,200.00 to subsidize the cost of purchasing supplies and materials for a school wide study of the French culture.

- Albion Elementary received $300.00 to subsidize the cost of purchasing supplies and materials needed to teach students about various cultures.

- North Side/ South Side Elementary schools received $861.00 to subsidize the cost of two school performances from the Fort Wayne Dance Collective. The performances would be on the Japanese and Chinese cultures through Taiko drumming mask dancing set to Haiku poetry and T’ai Chi movement.

- West Noble School Corporation – Ligonier Elementary received $1,000.00 to subsidize the cost of purchasing supplies and materials for a school wide Christmas Around the World at Ligonier Elementary.
