COLLEGIATE INTERNSHIP Grant

In 2007 CDP begin a new initiative to link local non-profit organizations with local college interns to assist in extending the organizations reach to diverse populations. Organizations and interns both relate positive outcomes from this initiative including increased understanding of diverse cultures in our area; increased access to services; improved communication between cultures including Asian, Arabic and Latino.

 

2009 Collegiate Internship Grantees:

-LEAP of Noble County

-Life & Family Services

 

The positive experiences of the initial grant recipients and interns have resulted in CDP providing an opportunity for organizations to apply for a 2010 Collegiate Internship Grant.

Deadline for 2010 Collegiate Internship Grants is March 10th 

The purpose of the Collegiate Internship Grant is:

-To provide students with a business mentor.

-Provide students an opportunity to explore viable career options.

-Increase their commitment to continuing secondary or post-secondary education.

-Help students strengthen their communication skills by serving as translators and/or interpreters.

-Develop role model (mentor) relationships.

-Raise awareness of service industry and professional career options.

 

Expected Outcome:

-Noble County organizations, businesses and residents have access to trained interpreters and translators.

-A greater number of teenagers are mentored and seek post high school education.

 

Long Term Impact:

-Students will embrace career options that utilize their unique talents and abilities, and the community will benefit from increased access to bilingual employees and an increasingly educated workforce.
